Biography
You could say that an artist is only as good as her teachers, especially if she’s self-taught, and this would help explain the virtuosic Ms. Lynch. The painter was schooled by Alexandra Lynch the sometime Wall Street Journal writer and editor, magna cum laude law graduate, fashion impresario, curio hunter, student of life, dancing and heavy drinking, and visual-cortex sharpshooter known out to six degrees of separation for spotting from a football field away the lost childhood friend with the little scissor-step in his walk no one else had even noticed. Except that she has also outstripped her teacher. She rides the melting ice of her fancy, hidden by nature even to her, but the results are as accessible to you as they are to her or anyone else. They're a hoot. You need not even wonder why they make you feel smarter, younger, more generous, more curious, and more alive than anyone would seem to have a right to. It is a scandal. Thank god for art.
Alexandra’s work has been shown at BUILT Architecture Studio in Tribeca (May 2004), featured in the May 2005 anniversary issue of Pinque Magazine, selected for an anti-handgun violence campaign's poster and more. Look for her September 2006 show at the Ansonia Pharmacy Windows. See Roll Credits
Her collectors include Amy Sedaris (comedian), Loring, Wolcott & Coolidge (a Boston-based fiduciary services firm), and Abraham Lackman (president of the Council on Independent Colleges and Universities).
